How Much Does a Website Cost?
There’s no single price for a website, but there is a clear way to think about it. Here’s what drives the cost, what our plans include, and how long a project takes.
"How much does a website cost?" is the first question almost everyone asks us, and the honest first answer is "it depends." That's not a dodge. Two websites that look similar from the outside can need very different amounts of work behind the scenes. So instead of hiding behind that answer, here's a plain-English look at what actually drives the price, and where our plans sit.
Why there's no single price
Think about building a house. A one-bedroom and a five-bedroom both count as "a house", but nobody expects them to cost the same. Websites work the same way. The price follows the amount of thinking, designing, building and testing that goes in.
The biggest things that move it up or down:
- How many pages you need. A five-page business site is a different job from a fifty-page one.
- How much it has to do. A simple brochure site is one thing. Booking forms, logins, payments or an online store are another.
- How custom the design is. Your own branding and layout takes more work than a standard look.
- Who writes the content. If you supply words and photos, that's less for us to produce. If you need copywriting, it's an extra.
- What happens after launch. Hosting, updates, backups and support are ongoing, not one-off.
Our three web plans
We keep our web pricing in three clear steps. Every plan is a starting point, and we can adjust the details to fit what you actually need. Prices are in US dollars.
Basic Web Plan: USD 450
The simplest way to get a proper site online. You get a responsive layout (it works on phones, tablets and computers), customisable design and branding, basic and interactive features, and social media integration. It suits a small business, a freelancer or a new brand that needs a professional presence without a lot of extras.
Standard Web Plan: USD 700
This is where the site starts working harder for you. Along with core functionality, branding and design, it adds essential pages, interactive features, SEO and performance work, and security and maintenance. If you want to be found in search and you want the technical side looked after, this is the sweet spot for many businesses.
Premium Web Plan: USD 1,100
Our most popular plan, built for businesses that treat their website as a serious part of how they grow. You get advanced design and UX, enhanced functionality, marketing tools, analytics and insights, social media integration, performance and security work, and ongoing support.
“The cheapest website isn't the one with the lowest price. It's the one you don't have to rebuild in a year.”
Extras you might need
Not everything fits neatly into a plan, and that's fine. We offer add-ons that you can attach to any plan. Each is quoted around your project, so you only pay for what you need:
- Extra pages for services, products, your team or anything else
- Logo and branding, including a colour palette and style that carry across everything you publish
- Hosting and maintenance, monthly or yearly
- Content writing, with clear, search-friendly copy
- An online store, with product pages, a cart and checkout
- A multi-language site, if you want to reach customers in more than one language
And what about marketing?
A good website that nobody visits is a very nice, very quiet room. If you also want help getting found, our marketing and advertising plans start from USD 2,400 and cover things like SEO and SEM, content strategy, social media ads, email automation and multi-channel campaigns, with reporting on what's working.
You don't have to do both at once. Plenty of people build the site first and add marketing later, once they know what the site needs to do.
How long will it take?
Time is the other half of the cost question. Our rough guide looks like this:
- Planning and requirements: 1 to 2 weeks
- Design: 1 to 3 weeks
- Development: 2 to 6 weeks
- Testing and review: 1 to 2 weeks
- Launch: 1 to 3 days, with ongoing support after
Added up, most projects land somewhere between 5 and 13 weeks. The biggest swing factor is usually you, in the nicest possible way. Quick feedback and ready content keep things moving. A project that waits three weeks for photos will take three weeks longer.
What happens after launch
A website isn't a one-time purchase, and it's better to know that now than be surprised later. Sites need updates, backups and the occasional fix. If you'd rather not worry about that, our monthly care plans start at USD 25 a month and cover updates, backups and support, so your site stays safe, fast and up to date.
Paying without the stress
Nothing should be a surprise on the money side. We agree scope, timeline and cost before work starts. Some projects ask for an upfront deposit to reserve development time, and we confirm that in the plan we agree with you. When it's time to pay, we send a private payment link for each invoice, and you can pay by card, Apple Pay on Apple devices, or mobile money such as M-PESA.
If your requirements change halfway through, tell us early. We can often adjust the scope or give a revised quote, so you always know the cost and timeline before any extra work begins.
A quick way to get a number
If you'd like a rough figure without a conversation, our instant estimate tool on the Services page lets you choose your site type, pages and extras and see a price range in about a minute. And if you'd rather talk it through, you can request a free 15-minute call and we'll help you work out which plan fits.
Where to go from here
You don't need to know exactly what you want before you ask. Tell us what you're trying to build, fix or improve, and we'll point you to the simplest option that does the job. No jargon, no pressure.
Your vision, our code.
